This is what we smell, we smell it again, we cover it, and we luxuriate in. A treasure trove of delights, botanical oil symbolizes a treasure trove of joys that our taste senses cherish as much as our epidermis cells do. What is the hidden ingredient in this secret recipe for beauty, health, and hunger for the senses? What is the source of the many advantages that botanical oils provide? What distinguishes them from one another?

A fatty substance, botanical oil, or greasy macerate, to name a few options

Oil is the name given to a fatty material that is in the liquid form at room temperature, while the word “fat” refers to a fatty substance that is in the semi-fluid to solid state at room temperature (butter, lard in particular). The majority of botanical oils from nu-botanics and fats are derived from oleaginous plants (nuts, seeds, or fruits that contain lipids), with the exception of a few, such as evening primrose or borage oil, which are derived from other sources.

Do not mistake botanical oil (derived from a plant) with mineral oil (derived from petroleum: paraffin, silicone), or animal oil (derived from a living organism) (such as cod liver oil or cetacean oil). Because of their low cost, mineral oils are widely utilized in the cosmetics sector. Despite this, mineral oils do not have the benefits of unrefined botanical oils, which are produced under pressure. In addition, their ecological importance is not the same as one another! It is thus essential to exercise extreme caution when selecting a botanical oil, since it has an influence on the health of your body, your skin, and the environment!

As we shall see, there are many distinct types of botanical oils, each with a unique set of applications and advantages. Botanical oil may be used in a variety of applications including cooking, cosmetics, massage, and in conjunction with essential oils. She is your everyday ally in the treatment, relief, prevention, and healing of your ailments.

    Using a hydraulic press

The dried fruits are cold pressed to provide good grade virgin botanical oil from which to make other products. The oils produced in this manner are branded as “first cold pressing,” which is a favoured method for ensuring nutritious food and a procedure that is environmentally friendly.

By use of a mechanical press (expeller)

The seeds are crushed and mildly cooked before being used. It is possible to get a pure oil that is free of any extraneous substances and that retains the nutritional properties of the seed. This is the approach that is most usually utilized.

As a result of centrifugation (for oleaginous fruits)

This is done in order to separate the oil from the fruit’s pulp (almonds, hazelnuts, walnuts).

    Using a solvent extraction method

Hexane (petroleum solvent) is meant to degrease the residue left behind by crushed seeds after they have been ground. The distillation process is then used to remove the solvent from the mixture in order to produce the oil. However, even if this approach proves to be the most lucrative (since it allows for the harvesting of a much bigger amount of oil), it is also the least healthful because it is quite probable that solvent residues will be detected in the oil collected as a result of this procedure.
