Now that you have installed hardwood flooring in your home, you would want to ensure that you enjoy it for a long time. To achieve this, there are maintenance procedures that you have to put in place. Maintaining and cleaning a hardwood floor does not require a lot of stress; however, it requires consistency because if you do not have a cleaning routine for your floor, you will run into problems sooner or later.

Are you thinking about how to maintain and clean a hardwood floor? Check out some of the tips listed below.

    • Vacuum Regularly

Vacuuming the home should be a part of your maintenance routine if you have hardwood flooring installed in your home. Additionally, vacuuming a hardwood floor helps keep it free from dirt and debris that can scratch or damage the hardwood. After cleaning, you can use of damp cloth to wipe the surface of the wood.

    • Use Ice to Get Rid of Sticky Stains

Leaving something sticky like wax or gum on a hardwood floor for an extended time can leave a permanent spot on the floor, which can result in discoloration of the wood. Ice is very efficient in the removal of sticky substances from the floor. Put the ice of the affected spot and leave for a few minutes before carefully scraping it away.

    • Clean Up Spills on Time

No matter how careful you are about getting stains on your floor, there will always be times when liquid spills on the floor will be unavoidable. When this happens, it is best not to wet mop the floor because water and hardwood floors do not go together. Use a damp cloth or towel to clean up spills as soon as you see them.

    • Make Use of Rugs

One of the ways dust and dirt get on the floor is from the soles of shoes of people coming from outside. To reduce the amount of dirt transported into the home, use rugs at the house’s entry points. Rugs also help protect hardwood flooring against scratches caused by moving heavy furniture around in the home.

    • Use only recommended cleaning products

When cleaning the floor, be sure that the cleaning and polishing products are the ones that are recommended for your type of hardwood flooring. Using the wrong products can cause a reaction in the floor

Maintaining a hardwood floor can be tasking, especially if you have never used one before. The good part is that you can develop a cleaning routine that can make the cleaning process easier. However, if you cannot put up with the maintenance on your own, employ professional floor cleaners to get the job done. The important thing is to ensure that your floor is cared for.
