A roof that isn’t waterproof can quickly become waterlogged and damaged, and can easily lead to expensive leaks; a cost the average homeowner would prefer not to have to deal with. If you haven’t yet sought professional help to have a waterproof membrane for roof added, and are worried that you roof might already be damaged, you should seek an inspection from the waterproof lab as soon as possible.

If your roof has already sprung a leak, here’s what you should do:

Try to contain the leak before contacting the waterproof lab

Water dripping from a bulge or discoloration in your ceiling are signs that you have a significant leak, and containing it is crucial if you’re to avoid damage to your furniture and belongings. Then, contact a reputable waterproof roof contractor and see how quickly they can come out to your property and assess the extent of the problem.

When you get through to them, if they’re concerned that the collapse of your ceiling may be imminent, they may recommend that you take a screwdriver, find the center of the bulge where water is accumulating in your ceiling, and puncture it in the middle. This allows the water to drain out smoothly, and prevent the entire ceiling from collapsing. However, it’s important that you only do this if instructed to by a reputable roof specialist such as the waterproof lab.

If the leak has been caused by heavy rain, which is still falling, then your roofing contractor may recommend that you cover the exterior surface of the water affected area with a large tarpaulin, which can act as a temporary fix to minimize the damage inside your home until the weather has abated and the roof specialist can fix the problem.

Wait for the waterproof lab to come and work their magic!

After inspecting your roof internally and externally, the professional team at the waterproof lab will give you their verdict, and schedule a date for making the repairs and helping you to ensure that the problem never happens again by installing a waterproof membrane for your roof.

Why you should never wait when your roof springs a leak

Acting quickly is essential when it comes to roof leaks, and the sooner you can get in touch with a roofing contractor who specializes in waterproof solutions, the better, and the less likely you are to have to replace your roof or face huge repair bills further down the line.

Having your roof inspected twice a year can help spot and prevent leaks, and of course, ensuring that it’s fully waterproof will help your roof last longer, and protect it from water damage.

Almost always a sign of a much bigger problem, a roof that isn’t waterproof and has sprung a leak, must be dealt with immediately. Regular inspections and waterproofing from a professional contractor such as the waterproof lab can eliminate problems caused by water damage, and save you money in the long run.
