Having guests over your house is always a fun event and is a chance for you to entertain others while in the comfort of your own home. Most of the time, you are prepared to have guests over because they give you a heads up beforehand. But there are times when this isn’t the case at all.

If you’re not prepared, it can be difficult to make your home presentable enough to have guests over.

Although it is a challenge it doesn’t mean that it is entirely impossible to find last-minute ways on how you can prepare your home for guests. On that note, if you are in a rush and are looking for last-minute ways to fix up your home so it looks presentable to your guests, then here are some things that you should do.

Take a quick look in the guest bath

If your guests are going to be staying over then it is important that you look over the guest bathroom first and foremost.

Even if you don’t have a guest bathroom you should check out how your bathroom, in general, is doing so that it doesn’t look dirty and unappealing to your guests when they use it.

You should remember to wipe down mirrors and clean out the sink. If there are no extra toilet paper rolls available then it’s time to stock this up if you can. You should also make sure to take out the trash and replace the trash bag inside the bathroom.

Last but not the least, you should clean the toilet as much as you can. Doing a quick once-over should do the trick.

Set out different colors of towels

If you don’t have a guest bathroom that will separate your bathroom affairs from those of your guests then you should remember to set up different colors of towels.

Since you and your guests are going to be using the same bathroom, it can be hard to remember which one is yours and which one is theirs.

To be safe you should set out a different color for each guest that you plan on inviting into your home. Remember not to leave your towel on the towel racks and other people are going to be using it.

If you can, try and give your guests two towels each: One big bath towel and one smaller towel.

    Vacuum all surfaces

A vacuum is a powerful cleaning tool that you should definitely use if you have last-minute guests coming over.

If you have a powerful vacuum then it would only take you 20 minutes at most to be able to thoroughly vacuum any space.

A vacuum can save you time from having to sweep the floor and doing some dusting. Of course, this works best if you have a reliable and high-quality vacuum with you.

When vacuuming your surfaces in the house, focus on the floors and on the sofa since your guests are probably going to use that a lot.

    Prepare an easy hand-and-go food

Preparing food for your guests at the last minute can be difficult, which is why it is recommended that you have an easy hand-and-go food available. These are the type of food that you can easily offer to your guests at any time without much preparation.

Baked goods are great when it comes to easy food to present and give to your guests when they are hungry. Having some finger food is also ideal especially when it’s time for you to bond with your guests and they need something to munch on.

When choosing these snacks and other foods for your guests, remember to add some variety to it since each person has different preferences.

    Clear your kitchen counters

Before your guests arrive, remember to clear out your kitchen counters of used dishes or any other mess.

Stash your unwashed dishes in the dishwasher and throw away any full garbage bins that you have.

Having clean dishes and cutleries is important especially when you have guests so those are a priority.

Pick up the clutter in the living room

According to Maid Sailors Maid Service NYC, you should make sure that you pick up the clutter in your living room before you have unexpected guests over.

This is the first place that your guests will see so it’s definitely one of your first concerns when tidying up the home for them.

    Call a last-minute house cleaners

If you are really desperate to get your house clean before your guests come over, then it’s best that you hire professionals to do the cleaning work for you.

Last-minute house cleaners might cost you more but it will really save you a lot of time. For instance, while your house cleaners are cleaning your home, you can put other things away or go and purchase some food or other supplies you might need.

Unexpected guests can rattle you but with these last-minute ways to prepare your home you should be able to present a decent house to your guests.
